Exodus, Definitive Edition
Exodus
Exodus tells of a people crushed by Pharaoh.
The Lord brings them out
and teaches them freedom.
Brick by brick beneath the crown
A child was lifted from the Nile
Fire burned but would not die
Moses heard the holy name
River red and daylight gone
Blood marked every door before the dawn
Out of Egypt, out of chains
By the cloud and fire
Through the wind, across the sea
The Lord went before us
Frogs and hail, the locust sky
Midnight grief in each house
Sandals tied, we left in haste While Egypt faded in the night
Bread at dawn and water flowed Hands were raised while Joshua fought
Sinai shook beneath the clouds Stone received the words of God
Gold was raised, the tablets fell
Still the Lord renewed his word
Wood and linen, bronze and flame
Then the glory filled the tent
Out of Egypt, out of chains
Not by strength or power
From the house of slavery
The Lord went before us
