Till the Sun Goes Down

Exodus

The Battle The battle was in the valley, but the victory was held on the hill. Amalek came like a storm in the dust Steel in the valley, fear in the blood Joshua ran where the war drums cried Moses climbed with the staff held high When his hands rose, the people prevailed When they fell low, the line grew pale all day long With the sun on his face, faith stood high in a dangerous place But even the chosen get tired, even the strong feel the weight When the promise is hanging above them, God sends somebody to stay Hold him up till the sun goes down Stand your ground when the fight gets loud When his arms get heavy, when his knees touch stone No one wins this war alone Hold the line, keep the fire in his eyes Lift the hands that are reaching for the sky When the weary almost fall God puts faithful arms around them all Aaron stood on one side strong Hurt came near when the day grew long They found him a stone in the burning light Held up his hands through the fading fight No throne, no crown, no cheering crowd Just silent strength when the heat pressed down While Joshua fought where the blades flashed bright The hills stayed faithful till the edge of night Some are called into battle Some are called to the high Some are called to hold steady When the prophet runs dry Hold him up till the sun goes down Stand your ground when the fight gets loud When his arms get heavy, when his knees touch stone No one wins this war alone Hold the line, keep the fire in his eyes Lift the hands that are reaching for the sky When the weary almost fall God puts faithful arms around them all Not every victory looks the same Not every hero gets the name Some lift swords and some lift prayers Some hold faith in the burning air If one hand trembles, let two hands rise If one heart falls to stand at his side Till shadows stretch across the ground Do not let the promise stand Hold him up till the sun goes down Stand your ground when the fight gets loud When his arms get heavy, when his knees touch stone No one wins this war alone Hold the line, keep the fire in his eyes Lift the hands that are reaching for the sky When the weary almost fall God puts faithful arms around them all Till the battle turns Till the promise stands Till the fire burns Hold him up Hold the line Hands raised high Till the sun goes down
