She heard the world behind her roar

She stopped between the fire and dawn

She turned her face towards Sodom's flame

And in that moment she was gone

The salt climbed through her feet and hands

Her breath and movement slowly stilled

A pillar stood up on the road

Where one command had been ignored

Lot reached out but could not save her

His daughters cried and drew away

The falling fire lit the salt

And turned the darkness into day
