As testemunhas celestiais na KJV

1 John 5:7-8. A KJV inclui as palavras sobre o Pai, a Palavra e o Espírito Santo dando testemunho no céu. Essa redação mais longa, muitas vezes chamada de Comma Johanneum, não aparece nos manuscritos gregos mais antigos nem em quase todos os testemunhos gregos anteriores ao fim da Idade Média.

A leitura grega mais curta fala do Espírito, da água e do sangue como três testemunhas. A redação trinitária mais longa circulou na tradição latina e entrou no texto grego impresso usado pela KJV. A doutrina da Trindade não depende dessa única frase, mas do testemunho mais amplo das Escrituras.

Uma lição cuidadosa identifica o que a KJV imprime, explica por que muitas traduções modernas omitem ou anotam as palavras adicionais, e não acusa tradutores ou leitores de negar a Trindade por avaliarem a evidência manuscrita de modo diferente.
