Obadiah 1 opens in verse 1 with “The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour…”, reaches its middle movement near verse 11 with “In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried…”, and closes in verse 21 with “And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom…” Repeated or prominent terms include Esau, shouldest, LORD, mount, possess. Together, those details trace this chapter’s own movement from its opening to its conclusion.
