[Final Charge] Preach the word ready in season and out, With patience in doctrine, with courage in doubt. The time comes when itching ears gather a crowd, And truth is exchanged for the fable spoken loud. [Chorus] I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept faith alive. A crown from the righteous Judge waits in the light, For all who have loved his appearing in sight. [Verse II] My life is poured out and departure is near, Demas loved this world and no longer stood here. Luke remains with me; bring Mark for the work, Bring cloak and the books and the parchment from Troas. [Defense] At my first answer no friend took my side, May mercy be granted, not vengeance supplied. But the Lord stood beside me and strengthened the word, So nations could hear and the message be heard. [Final Chorus] I have fought a good fight, The Lord will deliver and keep me through night. To his heavenly kingdom the servant is drawn, Grace be with you until winter and dawn.
