Daniel
[Opening Command] Bow when the cornet and flute begin. Bow when the harp and the dulcimer ring. Bow to the image, ninety feet high, Or enter the furnace and surely die. [Verse 1] Governors gathered on Dura's wide plain; Gold caught the sunlight, and music became A test for the nations. All faces went down, But three Hebrew servants stood under the crown. Accusers rushed forward; the king burned with rage: "Who is that God who can rescue from flame?" [Chorus] Through the fire, They would not bend. Through the fire, Faith did not end. Even if rescue had not been supplied, They would not worship the gold at his side. Through the fire, The fourth walked near; The furnace burned bonds, But it could not burn fear. [Verse 2] Seven times hotter, the strongest men died While casting the faithful ones bound inside. The king rose astonished: "Did we not cast three? Four men walk loose, and no hurt can I see." They came from the furnace, their garments unscarred, No singe on their hair, no smoke on them marred. [Final Chorus] Through the fire, The name was confessed. No other god could deliver like this. The empire issued a word through the land; The faithful came through with no smell on their hands.
