Lyrics · Ezekiel
Baggage through the Wall
Ezekiel 12:1-13:23
[Processional Chant]
Baggage through the wall,
The proverb of delay has reached its end.
Pack in daylight while the neighbors watch,
[Verse 1]
Dig through the wall when the evening falls.
Cover the face; lift the weight to the shoulder,
A prince will leave blind though his eyes remain open.
Bread in trembling, water in fear,
[Chorus]
Baggage through the wall,
The proverb of delay has reached its end.
A sign becomes near when the people say far.
Foxes in ruins found words of their own,
[Silence]
They painted weak mortar and called it a wall.
[Verse 2]
Rain asked the plaster what stone lay beneath,
The answer collapsed when the storm entered in.
No charm can hunt souls and remain unseen,
[Final Chorus]
Baggage through the wall,
The proverb of delay has reached its end.
Baggage goes outward; false shelter falls inward.
