Lyrics · Hosea
Fifteen Pieces of Silver
Hosea 3:1-5
[Verse 1]
Fifteen pieces rang on the merchant’s scale,
Barley was counted where promises failed.
Love did not call the betrayal a lie,
[Silence]
Abide now many days; do not return,
[Verse 2]
Love paid the cost and then named a new life.
I also will wait with a faithful claim,
Redemption is costly, but bondage is not home.
Israel will sit without king or shrine,
[Chorus]
Abide now many days; do not return,
No other arms and no old altar flame.
Without the symbols that once seemed divine.
Then hunger will turn from the market to grace,
[Bridge]
The lost will seek God and the Davidic throne.
They come trembling toward goodness, not chains,
Bought back from ruin to learn love again.
[Final Chorus]
Abide now many days; do not return,
No other arms and no old altar flame.
They come trembling toward goodness, not chains,
Bought back from ruin to learn love again.
