Lyrics · Isaiah
Death Swallowed Up
Isaiah 24:1-27:13
[Movement I]
The earth lost balance beneath broken vows,
Kings and servants stood level somehow.
The city of confusion shut every door,
He will swallow death upon the mountain,
[Movement II]
Yet a song crossed the islands from a faithful few.
We waited through night; now salvation is named,
The feast has been spread and reproach is removed.
He will wipe every face where the tears have been.
[Movement III]
A strong city rises with truth for its wall,
Open the gate to the steadfast of heart.
Leviathan bends to the sword of the LORD,
The vineyard is guarded, its roots taking hold.
[Bridge]
Then one trumpet sounds over river and sea,
The scattered come home and bow down on the mountain.
[Coda]
He will swallow death upon the mountain,
He will wipe every face where the tears have been.
Then one trumpet sounds over river and sea,
The scattered come home and bow down on the mountain.
