[Verse 1] Job lives in the land of Uz as a perfect and upright man who fears God and rejects evil. His flocks include seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels. A very great household makes Job the greatest man of the east. After each cycle Job sends to sanctify his children. [Pre-Chorus] The speeches rose, each certain of its claim, But certainty alone could not explain. [Chorus] Doth Job Fear God for Nought, let the question open wide, Human answers fail when pride becomes the guide. Wisdom cannot be purchased, mined, or seized, It comes from God, before whom striving ceased. [Verse 2] Satan also appears among the heavenly assembly. The LORD asks where Satan has come from. Satan answers that he has gone to and fro throughout the earth. Satan questions whether Job fears God without receiving benefit. [Bridge] Satan acknowledges that Job's work and substance have been blessed. He predicts that Job will curse God if his possessions are touched. The LORD places all Job owns within Satan's power but forbids harm to Job himself. Satan departs from the presence of the LORD with the stated boundary in force. [Final Chorus] Doth Job Fear God for Nought, let the question open wide, Human answers fail when pride becomes the guide. Wisdom cannot be purchased, mined, or seized, It comes from God, before whom human pride must cease. [Outro] The question stayed when every speech was through.
