[Verse 1] Bildad declares that dominion and fear belong to God, who makes peace in the high places. Bildad asks how mortal man can be justified or born of woman be clean. Job sarcastically asks how Bildad has helped the powerless or counselled the unwise. God stretches the north over emptiness and hangs the earth upon nothing. [Pre-Chorus] The speeches rose, each certain of its claim, But certainty alone could not explain. Wisdom cannot be purchased, mined, or seized, It comes from God, before whom striving ceased. [Verse 2] The heavens are garnished and the crooked serpent formed by God's hand. Job calls these only parts of God's ways, with the full thunder beyond comprehension. Job continues his solemn parable while maintaining that God has taken away his judgment. He will not justify the friends or remove his integrity until death. [Bridge] He offers to teach what lies in God's hand and notes that the friends have seen it. The wicked person's children face sword and famine. Though silver and clothing are heaped up, the just eventually receive them. Terrors, storm, and an east wind carry the wicked away under relentless judgment.
