[Verse 1] Humans locate veins of silver and refine gold while extracting iron and brass from stone. They overturn mountains, cut channels, bind floods, and bring hidden things to light. Gold, silver, onyx, sapphire, coral, pearls, and rubies cannot purchase it. God alone understands its way because he measures earth, wind, waters, rain. [Pre-Chorus] The speeches rose, each certain of its claim, But certainty alone could not explain. He expected a long life, rooted prosperity, renewed glory. Now younger men from despised and destitute families mock him. His soul pours out through relentless pain, and he cries to God without an answer. [Bridge] Job begins his oath with a covenant over his eyes and denies falsehood, deceit. He affirms justice toward servants and care for poor people, widows. He denies trusting gold, worshipping sun or moon, rejoicing at enemies, or refusing hospitality. Job denies concealing sin or exploiting land, asks for a written charge to answer.
