These chains did not close the road. Christ's message found another gate. The palace has heard why the prisoner stands; my bonds are in Christ, not in failure's hands. Brothers grew bold when they saw I remained; the word traveled farther because of the chain. The gospel advanced through my chains. Iron could not make the message stay. By love or contention, in truth or pretense, Christ is proclaimed, and I will rejoice. Not every motive is clean in the light. Some preach from envy and sharpen the strife. But I will not make my wounded name king; Christ is the Name I desire them to sing. Through your prayer and the Spirit's supply, hope raises boldness where shame would arise. Whether by living or passing through death, let Christ be magnified in my flesh. The chain is visible. The word is free.
