Where there are no oxen, stalls stay clean, But strong harvest comes through working animals. A faithful witness will not lie; The scorner seeks for wisdom and finds none. There is a way that seems right to a person, But its ending is the road of death. Even laughter can conceal a wounded heart; Joy may finish underneath grief. The simple believes every word; The prudent watches where the footsteps lead. Slow anger shows great understanding; Quick temper lifts up foolishness. Whoever oppresses poor ones insults their Maker; Whoever honors God has mercy on the needy.
