The Apple of Your Eye
Psalms · Bible Songs, Classical & Orchestral, Worship & Gospel
Listen to what is right, Lord;
Pay attention to my cry.
This prayer is not coming from pretending lips ,
Let the verdict come from where You are.
You have tested my heart;
You came to me in the night.
You put me through the fire
And found nothing I was hiding.
Where other men walked toward ruin,
Your word kept my feet off that road.
Hold me steady on Your paths
So my steps do not slide.
Guard me the way You guard Your own sight;
Cover me in the shadow of Your wings.
Show me the kindness that astonishes,
You who save the ones who run to You.
They have grown thick and comfortable;
Their mouths speak big.
They circle where I walk
Like a lion crouched in the grass.
Rise up, Lord. Meet them.
Take my life out of their hands.
Their portion is in this world,
And they are welcome to it.
But I will look on Your face,
And when I wake I will be satisfied
To find that I am like You.
