My Strength and My Shield
Psalms · Bible Songs, Classical & Orchestral, Worship & Gospel
I am calling out to You, Lord, my rock;
Do not go silent on me.
If You stay quiet
I am no different from the ones already down in the pit.
Hear the sound of me begging
When I call to You,
When I lift my hands
Toward the holiest place You keep.
Do not drag me off with people who do harm,
Who say peace to a neighbour
While something else sits in their chest.
Let what they built come back to them;
Let their hands be paid in their own work.
They pay no attention to what the Lord does,
Nothing to the work of His hands,
So He will pull them down
And not build them up again.
Blessed be the Lord,
Because He heard the sound of me begging.
The Lord is my strength and the shield in front of me;
My heart leaned on Him and I was helped.
So my heart is glad all the way through,
And I will thank Him with a song.
The Lord is strength for His people,
The saving strength of the one He chose.
Save Your people. Bless what belongs to You.
Feed them, and carry them, and keep carrying them.
