By the Word of the Lord
Psalms · Bible Songs, Classical & Orchestral, Worship & Gospel
Be glad in the Lord, you who are straight with Him;
Praise sits well on honest people.
Thank the Lord on the harp;
Play for Him on ten strings.
Sing Him something new,
And play it well, and play it out loud.
What the Lord says is straight,
And everything He does He does in good faith.
He loves what is right and fair;
The earth is full of how good the Lord is.
The skies were made by the word of the Lord,
And everything in them by the breath of His mouth.
He gathered the sea into a heap
And put the deep away in storerooms.
He spoke, and there it was.
He gave the order, and it stood.
Let the whole earth hold the Lord in awe;
Let everyone living in the world stand still before Him.
He empties out the plans of the nations
And makes what the peoples devise come to nothing.
What the Lord decides stands for good,
What is in His heart, for every generation.
It goes well for a people whose God is the Lord,
The ones He picked to be His own.
No king is saved by the size of his army;
No strong man gets out by being strong.
A horse is a poor bet for safety;
All that power will not deliver anyone.
Look , the eye of the Lord is on the ones who fear Him,
On the ones who wait for His mercy,
To pull their lives back from death
And keep them fed when there is nothing.
We are waiting for the Lord;
He is our help and the shield in front of us.
Let Your mercy rest on us, Lord,
The way we have been hoping in You.
