Psalms 43: Light and truth for the return

Psalm 43 continues the pressure of Psalm 42 but gives the desired movement a clearer destination. The speaker asks God to judge his cause against deceit and injustice while still calling the God who seems to have cast him off “the God of my strength.” Light and truth are then asked to become guides, leading not merely toward a better mood but toward the holy hill, the tabernacles, the altar, and finally “God my exceeding joy.” Music waits at that destination, but the psalm never narrates the arrival. Instead, the familiar question returns: “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?” The repeated hope is therefore prospective. The way has been requested, the destination named, and praise anticipated, while the actual movement from oppression to worship remains entrusted to God.
