Do Not Let the Deep Swallow Me
Psalms · Bible Songs, Classical & Orchestral, Worship & Gospel
Save me, God; the waters reach my spirit.
I sink in mire where there is no firm ground.
My throat is dry from crying through the darkness;
My eyes grow dim while waiting to be found.
Do not let the deep swallow me.
Answer in the kindness of Your grace.
Draw me from the flood and from my haters;
Do not hide the mercy of Your face.
Zeal for Your house has consumed my strength,
And every insult aimed at You falls on me.
For food they gave me bitterness and gall;
In thirst they offered vinegar to drink.
You know my shame, reproach, and broken spirit;
Comforters were sought, but none appeared.
Let Your judgment answer hardened cruelty,
Yet let the humble see and lose their fear.
I will praise the name of God with singing;
He hears the poor and will rebuild His land.
