I will extol You, God and King, And bless Your name forever. Every day my voice will praise You; Your greatness cannot be searched out. One generation tells another All the mighty acts Your hands have done. They speak of majesty and goodness; I will meditate on all Your wonders. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion passes through all generations. The Lord upholds the ones who fall And raises all who bow beneath their burdens. Every eye looks to You for food in season; You open Your hand and satisfy. You are righteous in every pathway, Near to all who call on You in truth. My mouth will speak the praise of God. Let all flesh bless His holy name forever.

About the passage

Psalms 145: An everlasting kingdom with an open hand

Psalm 145 turns one person's praise into a relay across generations. The singer promises daily blessing, yet God's greatness is called unsearchable, so the poem keeps speaking precisely because its subject cannot be exhausted. Grace, compassion, patience, mercy, kingdom, and dominion define a kingship whose duration extends beyond every individual voice. That vast rule is then shown at close range: the falling are upheld, the bowed down raised, waiting eyes fed, and an open hand satisfies living creatures in season. The repeated word "all" widens the field without erasing distinctions. The Lord is near to those who call in truth, preserves those who love him, and destroys the wicked. The ending returns to the speaker's own mouth before inviting all flesh into praise that outlasts any one generation.
