The sixth seal breaks and the foundations of the earth convulse. Sun turns black as sackcloth; moon becomes a field of blood. Stars fall down like figs beneath a violent wind. Heaven rolls away like parchment; every island, every mountain moves. The Great Day of His Wrath The appointed hour has come upon the earth. True and righteous are the judgments of the Lord. Let every kingdom tremble before his throne. Kings and captains lose their rank inside the caverns. Rich and poor, bond and free, seek the same shelter in the stone. No mountain hides the heart from holy light. The Judge of all the earth remembers every deed. They call the mountains down to hide them from the throne and Lamb. The great day of wrath has come; who is able now to stand? The Great Day of His Wrath The appointed hour has come upon the earth. True and righteous are the judgments of the Lord. Let every kingdom tremble before his throne. The Great Day of His Wrath

About the passage

Revelation 6: The seals expose conquest, suffering, and judgment

The Lamb opens six seals and the Book of Revelation moves from the heavenly question of worthiness into the consequences disclosed on earth. Four riders bring conquest, violence, scarcity, and death, yet each operates within authority that is given rather than seized. The fifth seal turns from agents of death to murdered witnesses beneath the altar, whose cry for judgment receives both white robes and the difficult instruction to wait. The sixth seal shakes the apparently stable order of sun, moon, stars, sky, mountains, islands, and human rank. Kings and slaves alike seek concealment from the one on the throne and from "the wrath of the Lamb." The chapter ends not with an answer but with a question: who can stand? Revelation leaves that sentence open so the next vision can show a sealed and worshiping people who do.
