A white cloud carries One like the Son of man above the field. Golden crown and sharpened sickle wait for the appointed word. From the temple an angel cries that earth’s full harvest is ripe. The hour has come; no season can delay the cutting blade. The Harvest of the Earth The appointed hour has come upon the earth. True and righteous are the judgments of the Lord. Let every kingdom tremble before his throne. The crowned Reaper thrusts the sickle through the waiting earth. Every stalk beneath the judgment falls into the gathered sheaf. No mountain hides the heart from holy light. The Judge of all the earth remembers every deed. The cloud remains above the field as the work is fully done. The harvest of the earth is reaped beneath the authority of heaven. The Harvest of the Earth The appointed hour has come upon the earth. True and righteous are the judgments of the Lord. Let every kingdom tremble before his throne. The Harvest of the Earth

About the passage

Revelation 14: The Lamb's company and the earth's harvest

Chapter 14 answers the beast's mark with the Father's name on the foreheads of a redeemed company standing with the Lamb on Sion. Their song, truthfulness, and following of the Lamb form a direct contrast with the deception and coerced worship of chapter 13. Three angels then announce a worldwide call to honor the Creator, Babylon's fall, and the severe judgment associated with worship of the beast and receipt of its mark. A blessing on those who die in the Lord interrupts the warnings with the promise of rest. The chapter closes with two harvest scenes. The first shows a crowned figure like the Son of man reaping a ripe earth without explicitly naming the crop's fate. The second is unmistakably judgment: ripe grapes are cast into the winepress of God's wrath. The Book of Revelation lets the two harvests stand with both their similarities and their important differences.
