The Marriage Supper and the King of Kings
Revelation · Opera Semiseria
[Intro]
A great voice rolls through heaven:
Alleluia; salvation and glory belong to God.
[Verse 1]
True are his judgments upon the great corrupter;
her smoke rises for ever.
Elders and living creatures bow.
From the throne comes the call to praise,
and a multitude answers like many waters,
like mighty thunder: the Lord God reigns.
[Refrain]
The marriage hour has come.
The bride is ready in clean fine linen,
the righteousness of saints.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
[Verse 2]
Heaven opens. A white horse comes.
Faithful and True judges and makes war in righteousness.
Eyes of fire, many crowns,
a name no man knows but he himself.
His blood-dipped vesture bears the name:
The Word of God.
[Bridge]
White-clothed armies follow.
A sharp sword proceeds from his mouth;
he rules the nations with a rod of iron.
Upon vesture and thigh:
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
[Post-Chorus]
An angel standing in the sun
calls the birds to the supper of the great God.
The beast and the false prophet are taken;
their gathered armies cannot stand.
[Outro]
The King rides on.
The marriage song and the just sword meet.
