[Intro] One seal breaks. Thunder says, Come and see. [Verse 1] White hooves strike first, a bow, a crown, a will to conquer. Red follows with a great sword; peace is taken from the earth. Black carries balances, measuring bread while oil and wine remain. Pale comes last of the four; Death rides, and Hell keeps pace. [Verse 2] The fifth seal opens under the altar. Slain witnesses lift one question: How long, holy and true? White robes answer for a little season; their fellowservants must be fulfilled. [Interlude] [Verse 3] The sixth seal shakes the ground. Sun turns black, moon turns blood, stars drop like figs in a hard wind. The sky folds away like a scroll; islands and mountains lose their places. [Breakdown] Kings and captains, bond and free, hide together among the rocks. Rank has no shelter. Gold has no shelter. [Refrain] The great day has come. Before the throne and the Lamb, who is able to stand? [Outro] The opened heaven holds the question.

About the passage

Revelation 6: The seals expose conquest, suffering, and judgment

The Lamb opens six seals and the Book of Revelation moves from the heavenly question of worthiness into the consequences disclosed on earth. Four riders bring conquest, violence, scarcity, and death, yet each operates within authority that is given rather than seized. The fifth seal turns from agents of death to murdered witnesses beneath the altar, whose cry for judgment receives both white robes and the difficult instruction to wait. The sixth seal shakes the apparently stable order of sun, moon, stars, sky, mountains, islands, and human rank. Kings and slaves alike seek concealment from the one on the throne and from "the wrath of the Lamb." The chapter ends not with an answer but with a question: who can stand? Revelation leaves that sentence open so the next vision can show a sealed and worshiping people who do.
