Lyrics

These words follow the timed lyric file supplied with this recording.

The hour had come He lifted up His

eyes The Son would glorify the Father Through the glory

of the sacrifice Authority over

flesh Was given for a gift, eternal life To know the

only God and know the one He sent

The work assigned was finished

The Father's name made known He asked for ancient glory

the glory before worlds were formed. The men drawn from the

world had received the Father's word. They knew the gifts came

down from God and trusted whom he sent.

Keep them in thy name Holy Father, keep them one The

visible path is ending But their work has just begun Keep

them in thy name Guard what love has given Let unity

preserve the witness When the sun returns to heaven

While present he had kept

them The son of loss alone Fulfilled the written sorrow

And chose another road He spoke his joy among them

Before He left their sight The world had hated those who

bore A word it could not own Not take them from

the world But keep them from the evil They do not

belong to its rebellion Those sent among its people Sanctify

them through the truth The Father's word is truth As Jesus

had been sent below So they were being sent That they

all may be one Not sameness built by fear But Father,

Son and faithful hearts Made one in holy love That they

all may be one So the watching world may know The

Father truly sent the Son And loved the ones he chose

The prayer reached past the table

Past every present face To those who would believe the word

In every future place The glory given to the Son

Would shape their unity Made perfect in one witness

Love visible and free That they all may be

one Not sameness built by fear But Father, Son and faithful

hearts Made one in holy love That they all may be

one So the watching world may know The Father truly sent

the Son And loved the ones He chose

He wanted them beside Him to see the glory there,

the glory rooted in a love before the world appeared.

Righteous Father, the world knew not, but Jesus knew the name.

The disciples knew the sender And would carry forth the

claim Declare the Father's name again

Let knowledge still increase That love before creation

may live within the least And He within His people

Not distant when unseen The prayer embraced believers

Whose faith had yet to be Heal them, sanctify

them Make someone
