Judah rebuilt their own homes while the house of the Lord lay in ruins.

Through Haggai, God called them to consider their ways and build again.

They paneled every dwelling

While the Lord’s house still lay bare

They sowed but gathered little

And the drought consumed their share

They ate but were not filled

Their wages slipped away

Then Haggai raised the warning:

Consider all your ways

Consider your ways

Rise up and build

Stone upon stone

Obey the word He gave

The Lord is with you

Do not be afraid

His Spirit still remains among you

So rise and build again

Zerubbabel and Joshua

Received the prophet’s call

The remnant turned in reverence

And gathered at the wall

The elders mourned the former house

But glory was not gone

Be strong, all people of the land

The greater day will come

He will shake the heavens

He will shake the earth

He will overturn the kingdoms

And measure all their worth

The silver and the gold are His

His peace will fill this place

From this day He will bless them

Remember well this day

your ways

Rise up and build

Stone upon stone

The promise still will stand

The Lord is with you

Do not be afraid

The latter glory will be greater

And peace will fill this place

Zerubbabel, His servant

Chosen by His hand

He will make him like a sig net

His purpose still will stand
