In the sixth month Gabriel came to Galilee,

To Nazareth, to Mary, where no court could see.

Pledged to Joseph, David's line beside her name,

She heard a greeting strange enough to trouble her with fame.

The angel saw her fear and told her not to hide:

Favor had been found, and heaven had drawn nigh.

A son would bear the name that generations know,

And David's ancient throne would meet the child she'd hold.

Jesus is the name,

Great, the Son of the Highest.

David's throne remains,

And His kingdom has no nightfall.

Holy from the start.

The promise crossed the distance

And entered human heart.

Mary asked how such a birth could ever come to be,

And Gabriel spoke of Spirit, overshadowing quietly.

The Holy Ghost would come; the Highest give His power,

The holy child called Son of God from that appointed hour.

Then Elisabeth was offered as a living sign:

The barren one was six months on the far side of decline.

What human hands call impossible cannot confine the Lord,

No wall of age or weakness can outlast His spoken word.

Nothing is impossible with God,

No promise falls because the road looks hard.

Nothing is impossible with God,

His word does not depend on what we are.

No soldiers filled the doorway,

No crown was waiting near.

Only one young woman

Listening through her fear.

She called herself the handmaid,

And answered without demand:

Let the word be done as spoken,

Though she could not see the land.

Jesus is the name,

Great, the Son of the Highest.

Jacob's house remains

Under rule that has no nightfall.

The angel left the room,

But the promise stayed behind:

A holy child, an endless throne,

And heaven entering time.
