Lyrics

These words follow the timed lyric file supplied with this recording.

Five porches held the waiting, bodies lined the stone

Eyes fixed hard upon the water, each

sufferer alone Thirty -eight years carried

in one exhausted frame Jesus saw

the length of it Before He asked His name

Wilt Thou be made whole Not someday, not if

another comes

Will thou be made whole?

Sir, I have no man to help me When the troubled

waters move Before my limbs can bear me

Someone else goes through The answer did not touch the

pool No hand disturbed the wave Rise,

take up thy bed and walk The word became his strength

Rise, take up thy bed The long night

does not own thee Rise, take up thy bed

The voice of life has known thee Thirty

-eight years fell behind When mercy spoke ahead

Rise, take up thy bed and walk Rise, take up thy

bed The Sabbath held a question for men who

missed the sign It is not lawful for thee to carry

what was thine The healed man named the command but could

not name the face. Later in the temple court, Jesus found

him in that place.

Sin no more, the warning came, lest worship fall on thee.

The man then told the rulers and healing met hostility. The

father's work was moving, the son worked in accord. They heard

equality with God And sought to kill the Lord The Son

does nothing severed From what the Father shows As Father raises

up the dead The Son makes living souls All judgment rests

upon Him That honor may be won The one who will

not honor Christ dishonors God who sent the Son Hear

the word and trust the one Who sent the living Son

Judgments crossing lies behind

Eternal life begun The hour comes

and now it is When graves will hear the call

Some rise to life Some rise to judgment The sun

will summon all John was a lamp that burned and

shone The works speak louder still The father bears the greater

word The scriptures show His will Search them, for in them

life is sought Yet ink alone cannot revive They testify of

Jesus But men refuse to come and live

Honor traded among men Can close the heart

to God

How can the sayings of the Son be trusted when Moses

goes unheard?

Rise, take up thy bed. The word of life has spoken

Rise,

take up thy bed The 38 -year chain is broken But

healing asks a deeper faith Than marvel at the sign

Come unto the sun for life

And leave the grave behind The bed once

carried him Now he carried the bed
