Daniel was taken into Babylon.

But Babylon never took his god.

Kings rose and fell.

But the Most High ruled over them all

Carried

far from Jerusalem Where the temple fires were gone

Young men stood in a foreign court

With another kingdom song They

were given wine and tables They were offered royal names

But they would not bow their spirits

To the gold of Babylon's flame

In the shadow of the empire When the throne spoke loud

and high There was still a god in heaven There was

still a king on high

Kingdoms rise, kingdoms fall But the Lord

is over all Fire burns and lions roar Still His servants

fear no more Ride it on the palace wall Every crown

is bound to fall Stone will strike and mount and stand

All the earth is in His hand

There were three before the furnace When the golden idols shone

They said our God can save us But if not, he

still is known Then the fire lost its hunger And the

soldiers feared the sight For a fourth walked in the burning

Like a son of heaven's light

The Lord alone is named Kingdoms rise,

kingdoms fall But the Lord is over all Fire burns and

lions roar Still His servants fear no more

At the feast of stolen vessels, where the drunken rulers left,

came a hand without a body,

He prayed toward Jerusalem, though the law had sealed the den

and the mouths of lions opened But the Lord shut them

again Then he saw the beasts of nations Rising cruel from

the sea Till the ancient one was seated And the books

were open clean

Kingdoms rise, kingdoms fall But the Lord is over all Fire

burns and lions roar Still His servants fear no more Clouds

of heaven, throne of flame Son of man receives the name

Power, glory without end Every kingdom bows to him

Babylon became a whisper Persia faded into dust

But the kingdom God has given Will not

fail and will not rust
