Lyrics

Stone streets shook beneath his feet

The city closed its eyes

Kings sat high in guarded halls

While smoke climbed in the skies

Priests in robes turned cold as iron

Crowds began to shout

Every voice said, “Turn around”

But he kept walking out

Through the market, through the gate

Through the pressure and the shame

He carried what they hated

And he spoke it just the same

He warned a nation

He did not stop

Stone under his feet

And fire in his walk

They pushed him lower

They cursed his name

But the word kept burning

Like a holy flame

He warned a nation

He did not run

Jeremiah kept walking

Till the warning was done

They wanted peace without repentance

Comfort without truth

They built their walls, they raised their hands

And mocked the voice of proof

He saw the fire before it fell

He saw the gates break wide

But mercy still was calling out

Before the ruin arrived

Through the anger, through the stones

Through the city’s rising roar

He would not trade the word of God

For the safety of the door

He warned a nation

He did not stop

Stone under his feet

And fire in his walk

They pushed him lower

They cursed his name

But the word kept burning

Like a holy flame

He warned a nation

He did not run

Jeremiah kept walking

Till the warning was done

They wanted silence

He carried sound

They wanted comfort

He shook the ground

They called him trouble

They called him shame

But heaven had already

Written judgment in the flame

He warned a nation

He did not stop

Stone under his feet

And fire in his walk

They pushed him lower

They cursed his name

But the word kept burning

Like a holy flame

He warned a nation

He did not run

Jeremiah kept walking

Till the warning was done

The city would not listen

But the prophet still walked
