Lyrics

These words follow the timed lyric file supplied with this recording.

There was a judge within a city Hard and self -contained

He feared not God Regarded neither favor nor man's name

A widow came before him With a simple, urgent cry

Give justice against the adversary Pressing on my life

He would not for a season He could close the matter

down But she returned with the same plea Whenever she came

round She kept coming back When the answer

still was no She kept coming back When the judge would

let it go No influence, no standing No power she could

wield Only one repeated plea She would not let him seal

At last the judge considered What persistence made him face Though

God meant nothing to him And mankind held little place This

widow kept on troubling him Her coming would not cease So

he would grant the justice sought

Let's

Day and night Delay does not mean death And vindication will

arrive According to His judgment Do not faint

Do not read delay as absence Do not faint

Keep the prayer where faith can stand

The

parable and searching Not the judge but those who wait When

the Son of Man is coming Will he find enduring faith?

Not a moment's hot petition Not a plea that dies by

dawn But a faith that keeps returning When the visible answer's

gone She kept coming back When the answer still

was no

When the judge would let it go And the question keeps

on sounding Past the widow and her case When the Son

of Man is coming Will he find that kind of faith?
