Lyrics

These words follow the timed lyric file supplied with this recording.

Night and day.

Stone and bone.

A man with no place left to call home.

Chains on wrists.

Fetters torn.

No one strong enough to hold him.

Night and day.

Cry and cut.

Mountains throwing the sound back.

Then a boat touched the other shore.

He saw Jesus far away

and ran down from the tombs.

The body fell before Him,

but another voice came through:

"Jesus,

Son of the most high God..."

Fear knew exactly who had landed.

"What is thy name?"

"Legion.

For we are many."

Many,

but not greater.

Many,

but under command.

Chains could not hold the man,

but one word could drive the darkness out.

Spirits begged for the swine.

Permission given.

The hillside broke into motion.

Two thousand bodies running,

hooves tearing down the slope,

straight into the sea.

Then...

The townspeople came

and found the man sitting.

Clothed.

Quiet.

In his right mind.

The sight of peace frightened them

more than the chains ever had.

They asked Jesus to leave.

No more tombs.

No more stones.

No more crying through the hills.

The man begged to go with Jesus,

but another road was given:

Go home.

Tell your friends

what the Lord has done.

And Decapolis heard

the voice that once only screamed.
