Lyrics

These words follow the timed lyric file supplied with this recording.

Sabbath morning.

Capernaum.

A synagogue full of familiar words.

Then Jesus taught,

and something changed.

No borrowed weight.

No secondhand voice.

The room leaned in.

The scribes looked on.

Authority could be heard.

"What have we to do with Thee,

Jesus of Nazareth?

Art Thou come to destroy us?

I know Thee,

the Holy One of God."

Hold thy peace.

Come out of him.

The man convulsed.

The spirit cried.

Then it was gone.

With authority.

Not noise.

Not ritual.

Not a struggle for control.

With authority.

One command,

and the unclean spirit had to go.

Astonishment moved through the room.

"What new doctrine can this be?"

Teaching with command behind it,

spirits answering when He speaks.

No one had entered expecting

the Sabbath to become a sign.

A captive man stood free among them,

and every question changed its kind.

He taught.

They listened.

He commanded.

It obeyed.

With authority.

the Holy One of God."

With authority.

Darkness yielded to His word.

The synagogue could not contain the story.

Galilee would hear it soon.

One command,

And the man was free.
