Two men heard a witness
And followed down the road.
He turned before they called him:
"What seek ye?" softly flowed.
"Master, where dwellest thou?"
No map, no guarded gate.
"Come and see," the answer came,
And they remained till late.
One day became a doorway,
One meeting lit a flame;
Andrew ran to Simon:
"We have found the promised name."
Come and see,
The road is open wide.
Come and see,
Leave doubt and walk beside.
A question may begin it,
A witness points the way;
Come and see what heaven reveals
When faith steps out today.
Jesus looked on Simon,
Not only where he'd been:
"Thou shalt be called Cephas,"
A stone where none was seen.
Then Galilee received the call,
And Philip heard, "Follow."
The invitation traveled on
Where every answer starts to grow.
Come and see,
The road is open wide.
Come and see,
Leave doubt and walk beside.
A question may begin it,
A witness points the way;
Come and see what heaven reveals
When faith steps out today.
Philip found Nathanael:
"The promised one is here,
Jesus, son of Joseph,
From Nazareth appearing."
"Can any good come out of there?"
No argument, no plea.
Philip gave the oldest honest call:
"Come and see."
Before the fig tree,
Before the words were said,
The hidden heart was known
And every guarded thought was read.
"Rabbi, thou art God's Son;
Thou art Israel's King."
Yet greater sights were promised
Than the wonder of that seeing.
Come and see,
The heaven will open wide.
Come and see,
The messengers will rise.
Above the Son of man,
Earth and heaven meet;
The road that started with a question
Ends at Jesus' feet.
One voice tells another.
One seeker becomes a sign.
Come and see.
