About this videoAbout this video
This song walks through all thirty-nine books of the Old Testament in the order an English Bible prints them, a few lines to each book, in a little over six minutes. Each book is named on screen as the song reaches it, from the garden in Genesis to the rising sun over Malachi.
It moves through the Old Testament’s parts in turn. The Law, Genesis to Deuteronomy, gives creation, the patriarchs, the exodus and the covenant at Sinai. The histories, Joshua to Esther, follow Israel into the land, through the judges and the kings, to the burning of the temple and the return from exile. The poetry and wisdom books, Job to the Song of Solomon, hold the nation’s prayers and its hardest questions. Then the prophets, from Isaiah to Malachi, call the people back to God and look ahead to what he will do.
Use it as a map. Every book it names has its own page here, with its songs, its study and its people, so a line that catches you can be followed into the whole book.
