Begotten Again unto a Lively Hope
1 Peter · Modern Classical
[Intro - five-beat pickup]
Across Pontus roads and Bithynian rain,
the scattered hear their names in grace.
Peace is spoken over distance.
[Verse 1 - low and close]
The Father knew; the Spirit set apart;
the blood of Jesus marked obedience.
Mercy opened a birth no grave could close:
a living hope rose with the risen Christ,
an inheritance weather cannot touch.
[Refrain - three long notes]
Held by the power of God,
heavy for a season, bright beyond sight,
we love the One we have not seen.
[Verse 2 - quicker inner pulse]
Fire asks the faith what gold cannot answer.
Prophets bent over the promised grace;
the Spirit traced suffering, then glory,
and angels leaned toward news now preached.
So gather every loose thought; be sober.
[Bridge - bare piano]
The Caller is holy,let conduct answer.
The Father judges every work without favor.
Silver did not buy us. Gold did not free us.
The spotless Lamb poured out precious blood.
Truth cleans the heart for fervent love;
brother reaches brother without disguise.
[Refrain - altered]
Born from seed that cannot rot,
grass falls, its flower lets go,
but the living word remains.
[Outro - unison]
Distance will end.
The word will not.
