[Verse 1] Proud questions can rot what the wholesome word builds, And money can promise what money never yields. We entered with nothing, with nothing depart, So food and a garment can quiet the heart. [Chorus] Fight the good fight of faith, Lay hold on the life that no thief can erase. Flee after riches that pierce with their pain, Pursue love and meekness, let righteousness reign. [Bridge - Charge] Before God who gives life and Christ who confessed, Keep the commandment unspotted and blessed. Until the appearing no compromise bring, For he is Lord of lords and the only true King. [Bridge - Riches Turn] Let the wealthy not trust in uncertainty’s store, But God who gives richly and opens the door. Be rich in good works, ready to share, Lay hold on a future no moth can impair. [Outro - Final Chorus] Fight the good fight of faith, Guard what was given, resist hollow claims. The King dwells in light no creature can see, To him honor, power, and glory shall be.

About the passage

1 Timothy 6: The faith is entrusted, not traded for gain

The Book of 1 Timothy closes by putting social inequality, money, endurance, generosity, and doctrine under the same entrusted charge. Enslaved believers are instructed within a real and unequal social order, including when masters share their faith, without turning the passage into either a complete defense or a complete abolition program. False teachers then expose another distortion: they treat godliness as a route to profit. Paul answers with contentment, warning that determination to become rich can end in traps, drowning, wandering, and self-inflicted sorrow. Timothy is told to flee that pattern and pursue righteousness, faith, love, patience, and meekness before God and the coming Christ. Those already rich are redirected toward generous good works. The letter ends where it began, with Timothy guarding what was entrusted to him against impressive-sounding claims that have wandered from the faith.
