Macedonia sang while poverty pressed; they gave beyond strength, and first gave themselves. Not from a surplus protected by walls— they begged for the grace to share with the saints. God loves a cheerful giver, not grief in the hand, not force at the door. The seed that is scattered in mercy returns as thanksgiving rising to God evermore. Christ, being rich, became poor for our sake, that we through His poverty might be made rich. The gift is received by the will that is ready, according to what one possesses to give. Not ease for another and burden for you, but need meeting plenty and plenty meeting need. As manna was measured, no hoarder had more, and no one who gathered in weakness lacked bread. Sow sparingly, reap a narrow field. Sow bountifully, watch abundance yield. God supplies seed and sufficiency too, so generosity keeps passing through. God loves a cheerful giver. The saints are supplied and their prayers draw near. Many voices thank Him for grace overflowing. Thanks be to God for His gift beyond words.
