Choose Life

Deuteronomy 27:1-30:20

[Verse 1] Write the law on plastered stones when Jordan lies behind, Build an altar without tools and speak the words in sight. Gerizim would hold the blessing, Ebal answer with the curse, And every solemn warning met the people's spoken "Amen." [Pre-Chorus] Blessing in the city, blessing in the field, But rebellion turned each promise into grief. [Chorus] Choose life, that you and your children may live, Love the LORD, obey His voice, and cleave to Him. Life and good are near you, death and evil stand apart, The word is not beyond the sea; it is in your mouth and heart. [Verse 2] Disobedience brought drought and sickness, siege and scattered fear, Fields and children, work and nation fell beneath the curse. Future generations stood within the covenant at Moab, Even those not yet among them heard the warning and the promise. [Bridge] When exile turned the people back with all the heart and soul, God would gather from the distance and restore what had been lost. He would circumcise the heart and place the curse upon their foes, Heaven and earth became the witnesses before the choice. [Final Chorus] Choose life, that you and your children may live, Love the LORD, obey His voice, and cleave to Him. Life and good are near you, death and evil stand apart, The word is not beyond the sea; it is in your mouth and heart. [Outro] The path divided before them, And Moses called them toward life.
