By Grace Are Ye Saved
Ephesians · ceremonial brass-and-strings
[Before]
Dead in trespasses, walking the course,
Carried by power that darkened the world.
Children of wrath by the nature once shared,
Living by cravings and minds unprepared.
[Great Turn]
But God, who is rich in mercy and love,
Made alive with Christ and raised us above.
Seated together where ages may see
The kindness of grace through eternity.
[Chorus]
By grace are ye saved through faith,
Not of yourselves, it is God's own gift.
Not born of works for the boast to arise,
But made in Christ for the good works prepared.
By grace are ye saved through faith,
The dead have been raised by mercy alone.
[Verse II]
Remember the time when the nations were far,
Without covenant promise, without hope in the dark.
But now in Christ Jesus the distant draw near,
By blood that has broken the wall built by fear.
[One New Man]
He is our peace who has made both one,
Abolished the hatred and opened access.
No strangers now, but the household of God,
Built on the witness with Christ as the stone.
[Final Chorus]
By grace are ye saved through faith,
And grace builds a temple where once there was war.
Fitly joined together, a dwelling for God,
One people brought near by the Spirit and blood.
[Outro]
Grace raised the dead,
And peace built a house.
