Lyrics · Ezekiel
I Am against Thee, O Gog
Ezekiel 38:1-39:29
[Processional Chant]
A cloud of armies rolled over unwalled land,
I am against thee, O Gog,
The plan counted spoil before battle began.
Pride cannot cover the land like God.
[Verse 1]
But mountains shook loose and the sword lost its friend,
Hail crossed the darkness and fire marked the end.
Weapons became fuel for years after war,
[Bridge]
The field became clean where invasion had roared.
Not because Israel never had sinned,
[Chorus]
I am against thee, O Gog,
Pride cannot cover the land like God.
But because judgment had finished and gathering began.
The nations would learn why the exile had come,
[Verse 2]
And why the returning were not left alone.
The hidden face turns and the Spirit is poured,
The storm is remembered, but the land knows the LORD.
[Final Chorus]
I am against thee, O Gog,
Pride cannot cover the land like God.
The nations would learn why the exile had come,
The storm is remembered, but the land knows the LORD.
