No More a Servant, but a Son
Galatians · Hill Country Blues
[Verse 1]
The heir was a child under keys and command,
owner in promise, yet led by another hand.
Tutors kept watch till the hour was complete;
the father's appointed time could not be forced.
[Chorus]
No more a servant, but a son;
no more outside what the Father has done.
The Spirit of Jesus cries deep in the heart,
Abba, my Father, you made me an heir.
[Verse 2]
In the fullness of time God sent forth His Son,
born of a woman, beneath the law.
He entered the bond to redeem those bound
and opened adoption where chains had been found.
[Bridge]
You know God, more, you are known.
Why turn again to the beggarly throne?
Do not make calendars masters of grace
or rebuild the prison Christ came to erase.
[Chorus]
No more a servant, but a son;
no more a stranger when redemption is done.
The Spirit of Jesus cries deep in the heart,
Abba, my Father, you made me an heir.
