Genesis
[Verse 1] No rain had fallen, no field had grown, No hand had broken the waiting stone. A mist rose softly over the land, And dust took form beneath God's hand. Breath in his nostrils, life in his frame, A garden around him, a labor, a name. [Refrain] Bone of bone and flesh of flesh, Morning was young and the earth was fresh. Nothing to hide and nothing to fear, Two lives joined and the Lord drew near. [Verse 2] Rivers ran outward from Eden's ground, Gold and onyx where waters wound. Every tree pleasant, every tree fair, Food in abundance and freedom there. One tree forbidden, one word to keep, Yet man stood lonely among cattle and sheep. [Turn] The creatures passed, and he named them all, Feather and hoof at the keeper's call. But none was fitted to answer his life, So sleep fell deep, and God formed a wife. [Final Refrain] Bone of bone and flesh of flesh, Gift beside him, living and fresh. A man shall leave, and the two shall be one, Under the shade and the innocent sun. Nothing to hide and nothing to fear, Two lives joined and the Lord drew near.
