[Verse 1]
Born without sight, he sat for alms;
Disciples asked whose sin had grown.
Neither his nor parents' guilt
Explained the darkness he had known.
Clay was made with dust and spittle,
Placed upon the sightless eyes;
"Wash in Siloam." He went,
And came returning under skies.
[Refrain - The Man]
One thing I know,
Though questions multiply:
I was blind,
Now I see the sky.
One thing I know,
Whatever men decree:
I was blind,
Now I see.
[Verse 2]
Neighbors doubted he was same man;
Parents feared the rulers' ban.
Pharisees questioned Sabbath healing,
Asked again about the man.
"Give God praise; this man is sinful."
He replied with sharpened truth:
"Never since the world began
Have blind-born eyes received such proof."
[Bridge]
They cast him out for honest witness.
The Healer found him afterward.
Faith moved farther than the eyesight;
He worshipped when the Son was heard.
[Final Chorus]
I was blind, now I see,
Light entered more than eyes in me.
Some who claimed the clearest vision
Closed themselves deliberately.
One thing I know,
Though councils disagree:
I was blind,
Now I see.
