One Loaf in the Boat
Mark · Future Garage
[Verse 1 - three days in the wilderness]
I have compassion on the multitude;
They have now been with me three days and have nothing to eat.
If I send them fasting to their homes,
They will faint by the way.
[Chorus - seven loaves]
Seven loaves were blessed and broken,
A few small fishes were set before them.
Four thousand ate and were filled;
Seven baskets of fragments remained.
[Interlude - across the water]
He entered the ship and came to Dalmanutha.
The Pharisees sought a sign from heaven.
[Verse 2 - one loaf]
Take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees
And of the leaven of Herod.
The disciples reasoned, We have no bread;
One loaf lay with them in the boat.
[Refrain - remember the baskets]
When five loaves fed five thousand, how many baskets? Twelve.
When seven fed four thousand, how many baskets? Seven.
Having eyes, see ye not?
Having ears, hear ye not?
[Outro - the question]
Do ye not remember?
How is it that ye do not understand?
