Lyrics · Micah
The LORD Comes Down
Micah 1:1-16
[Prophetic Invocation]
Hear, all the peoples; earth, be still,
The Judge comes down from holy hill.
The mountains melt, the valleys tear,
Like wax before the furnace air.
[Verse I]
Samaria's wound has reached the bone,
Her carved gods fall, her wages thrown.
The stones she trusted lose their place,
The hill of pride becomes a waste.
[Refrain]
The LORD comes down, the high places bow,
What hid in shadow stands open now.
From gate to gate the warning runs,
No wall can hide what sin has done.
[Movement II]
Micah walks barefoot through the dust,
His cry is grief, his word is just.
Gath must not hear the mourner's song,
But town by town the dread moves on.
[Chorus]
The LORD comes down, the mountains flow,
The valleys split, the watchmen know.
When worship bends to silver and stone,
The city finds it stands alone.
The LORD comes down, the proud are shown,
And sorrow reaches Zion's door.
[Bridge]
Lachish harnesses horses in fear,
Moresheth receives a parting tear.
Achzib becomes a failing stream,
The noble house loses its dream.
[Final Chorus]
The LORD comes down, the high places bow,
What hid in shadow stands open now.
Cut off the hair, take up the cry,
The children go to captivity.
The LORD comes down; no mask remains,
Only truth in the wind and rain.
[Coda]
The burden crossed the hills of home,
And judgment stood at Zion's door.
