Deep Calls to Deep
Psalms · Bible Songs, Classical & Orchestral, Worship & Gospel
The way a deer that has run too far
Goes looking for running water,
That is how I am looking for You, God.
I am thirsty for God, for the God who is alive.
When do I get to come and stand in front of Him?
My tears have been what I live on, day and night,
While people keep asking me,
So where is this God of yours?
When I think back on it I pour myself out,
Because I used to go with the crowd,
I used to walk with them to the house of God
With the sound of gladness and thanks,
A whole crowd of us keeping the feast.
Why are you down this low, my soul?
Why all this noise inside me?
Wait for God.
I am going to thank Him yet
For the help that comes from His face.
My God, everything in me has sunk;
So I will remember You from where I am,
From the Jordan country, from the Hermon hills,
From the little hill called Mizar.
Deep calls to deep at the noise of Your waterfalls;
All Your waves and Your breakers have gone over me.
And still the Lord will send His kindness out by day,
And at night His song will be with me,
A prayer to the God of my life.
I will say to God, my rock,
Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go about grieving
While I am pushed around?
It is like a sword down in my bones
When they ask me every day,
So where is this God of yours?
Why are you down this low, my soul?
Why all this noise inside me?
Wait for God.
I am going to thank Him yet,
The one who is the health of my face,
And my God.
