Dead to Sin, Alive unto God
Romans · cinematic post-rock
[Challenge]
Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
God forbid, let the old answer drown.
How shall the ones who have died to its claim
Keep walking as servants beneath the same chain?
[Verse I]
Buried with Christ by baptism in death,
Raised by the glory that gave Him new breath.
Planted together, the old man is crossed,
The body of sin shall no longer be boss.
[Chorus]
Reckon yourselves dead indeed unto sin,
Alive unto God through Jesus within.
Let not the tyrant reign over your frame,
Yield every member to righteousness' claim.
Dead to sin, alive unto God,
Grace is the master and Christ is the Lord.
[Verse II]
Sin shall not rule where grace has begun,
Yet freedom is never permission to run.
To whom you present yourself servant to obey,
His end and his fruit will determine the way.
[Bridge]
Once servants of sin, now from heart you have heard,
Made free to serve righteousness under the word.
The fruit of old bondage was shame and a grave,
But holiness grows in the life mercy gave.
[Final Chorus]
Reckon yourselves dead indeed unto sin,
Alive unto God where the new life begins.
The wages of sin are the silence of death,
The gift is eternal life in Jesus Christ.
[Coda]
Not sinless boasting,
But a new Master and way.
