Luke Videos

What this page covers

Where the videos go in Luke

The videos here take Luke as a whole rather than one passage at a time, so this is the ground they cover: “That Thou Mightest Know the Certainty”, “Follow Me”, “As He Went to Jerusalem”, “Three Things That Were Lost”, “This Is Your Hour” and “Did Not Our Heart Burn Within Us”.

That Thou Mightest Know the Certainty (Luke 1–4). A doctor writes to a man named Theophilus and says he has investigated everything carefully from the first. An old priest is struck dumb, two pregnant women meet and one of them sings about thrones being emptied, and the birth is announced to shepherds, who were not respectable witnesses. Simeon and Anna recognise the baby, a twelve year old stays behind in the temple, and at Nazareth he reads Isaiah aloud and is nearly thrown off a cliff.

Did Not Our Heart Burn Within Us (Luke 24). Two men walk to Emmaus arguing about the weekend, and a stranger joins them and explains the Scriptures the whole way without saying who he is. They only recognise him when he breaks the bread, and then he is gone and they run seven miles back in the dark. He eats a piece of fish to prove he is not a ghost, and the Gospel ends with a blessing, and with great joy.
